Around 75% of the volunteers were able to attend the first training session of the new school year, organised by Coaches Helen and Emma.
We welcomed a new volunteer Jean.
Sue B outlined the proposal under consideration to purchase a mechanical horse.
On the coaching side Helen has been appointed the joint area coach for Worcestershire and our volunteers Harriet and Linda are close to qualifying as a coach.

Instruction was given on the Fire Drill as set out by Stourport Riding Centre.
But the main point was do not panic.
Instructions were given on how to act if a rider falls from their pony.
New signing words were demonstrated.
Volunteers were encouraged to come as early as possible so they can help with setting up.
Volunteers were asked if they would like to join the mounting team.
One further request was for at least 2 hours prior to the session PLEASE DON’T EAT NUTS and PLEASE DO NOT BRING NUTS WITH YOU. As one of the children has a nut allergy.
This term the first group to ride will be those who come to improve their communications, the social group, all girls in total 7, two of whom rode last term.
The second group, of 3 girls and 3 boys ride to improve their physical abilities three of this group have been before.
Emma outlined each rider’s personality and physical needs.
The big news was that Wyre Forest Riders RDA has applied for a visit next year
by our President Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal.
First day of Autumn Term September 19th
The first group was 7 girls who all rode well and enjoyed their first session with coach Helen.The second group of three boys and two girls completed all the exercises very well under the watchful eye of coach Sue.
The Chairperson and coach Helen presented Janet D with the RDA Over and Above certificate and gold RDA badge for Exceptional Dedicated Services to Wyre Forest Riders RDA.
September 26th Unfortunately due to transport problems only one group of riders were able to attend
October 3rd Both group are progressing well . All very enthusiastic and lots of smiles .Two new volunteers began their training.
October 10th, Both groups had a successful session.Our Chairperson went to a meeting regarding the Duke of Edinburgh's Award as Wyre Forest Riders RDA is an Approved Activity Provider for the Volunteering Section of the Award. Hopefully this will encourage more young people to join us.Several volunteers attended the fashion show at De Beers Garden and Craft Centre Hartlebury that raises considerable funds for Wyre Forest Riders RDA. One of our volunteers took on a new role as one of the models !!!
October 17th Two new volunteers attended . Our Chairperson Jan, secretary Jill and Nicky represented Wyre Forest Riders RDA at the Volunteer and Skill Fair at Stourport Civic Centre . Nicky reported that it was a successful event with two people interested in becoming a volunteer. Our Chairperson would like to thank Nikki and Jill for their support and company, with the setting up and hosting of Wyre Forest Riders RDA, volunteers stall.
October 24th 2 new possible volunteers visited this week's riding session and 1 more has contacted Nikki to arrange a visit after half term. News of forthcoming Christmas Hampers Raffle.
November 7th first session after half term all volunteers had received a reminder that one of the children has a severe nut allergy so no nuts should be eaten in the hour prior to the session.
November 14th The children all enjoyed their time
November 21st Our coaches encouraged the young riders and were rewarded with lots of happy faces.
November 24/24th Christmas Hampers on display and tickets for sale at De Beers Christmas Craft Fair.
December 5th Father Christmas arrived and gave all the children Christmas Presents
December 6th Message from Jan our Chairperson . A very big thank you from the trustees parents and visitors for your support yesterday making it a brilliant ride. Everyone commented how happy, calm caring, nurturing and organised the WRR RDA volunteer's are.

December 19th The Christmas Hamper Raffle Draw took place at De Beers made by our Chairperson Jan. The raffle raised an amazing £ 2108.00 double last years total. January 9th Volunteer training
Emma from Wyre Forest School gave a briefing on the riders attending this term.
Three volunteers rode for the practical training in the arena, this covered: -
Tacking up the pony correctly with RDA additional items such as special reins and toecaps.
Checking the stirrup lengths and tightening girths.
Checking the placement of the saddle and saddle cloth/numnah.
Checking that both the bridle and head collar fit well.
The benefits of warming up horses at both walk & trot.
Using the outer & inner tracks around the indoor school to warm up.
To practise halts.

The RDA online training and modules are open to all volunteers.

Within this site you will have an opportunity to access courses relevant to your role in RDA – volunteer, trustee, coach.
These courses have been written specifically for all RDA volunteers and coaches.
January 16th This session involves Hat fitting for all our young riders. It also is the time that the length of stirrup leathers are measured and recorded for all the riders.
January 23rd Many of the volunteers have made donations for our Easter Prize Raffle at De Beers Spring Craft Fair on March 28th 2020
January 30th In the arena we require 24 volunteers each session. Plus coaches.
We have 4 coaches, Helen, Head Coach, Sue Trustee, Emma and Sue B and Jan who are looking to step down from coaching in the near future. We have 3 coaches in training.
We have 34 volunteers green carded. But some are clerical or fundraising.
Some volunteers may only be available for one of our sessions, some are not involved in the Arena .
Taking into account volunteers preferred skills, family /work commitments, holidays and ill health makes it much more complicated.But each week Guy does a fantastic job of allocating volunteers to riders .
February 6th 2 riding sessions and everyone wearing lots of warm clothing !!!
