Jess tells of the how helping others helped herself.
During my Duke of Edinburgh (DoE) bronze award, an award in which you complete sections in volunteering in a physical skill, I worked with the Wyre Forest Riders RDA.
I was a quiet 15 year old anxious girl with very little self confidence. I worked with the RDA as my volunteering segment of the award. Now, even though I am still not the most confident or the most outgoing girl, I find that the time I spent working with the ponies, people and children involved with the RDA has impacted on my life in a way I cannot quantify with words.
It was an uplifting and rewarding experience that has made me surer of myself and my intention to help others without an agenda or expectation.
