Nikki from Wyre Forest school had asked class teachers for comments regarding the value of riding.
Without using names these are comments from the physically challenged group
JD posture is far better when sat on horse. He asks which volunteers will be supporting him when he arrives in school on Thursday morning. (Recognition of which day it is)
FH Horse riding is used as a positive intervention in class if FH doesn't make good choices. Talking about horse riding calms him down until he is ready to join in class activities again.
CE he knows his routine on a Thursday morning and will remind staff he is riding that day. He is always happy when he comes back to class after a sssion.
AB smiles and is happy when she returns. Her walking is more controlled and she has more confidence.
CK C has become better organised with making sure he is ready for riding. he is now able to clock identify when he needs lunch, remember his coat/jumper and request his care plan to take whith him. He is able to do this with increasing independence.
KJ He is very excited when he is told he is going to riding sessions. On return he is very relaxed and talkative. (Lots of verbalisation to self and laughing.)
Leah's parents say she is awful to get to bed and get up in the morning but not on Wednesday night and Thursday morning . she talks about her horse.
